Diabetes Education For new diabetics or those whose diabetes is not well-controlled, this is a program of self management education taught by Diane Brown, RN, CDE and Nancy Gummer, RD. It deals with complication prevention and treatment for all types of diabetes, teaching balancing medication, exercise and meal planning for blood glucose control. Patients learn how to do blood glucose monitoring, how to do effective insulin administration and adjustment, and problem-solving skill for lifetime self-management. Classes are in four sessions over a two month period.
The American Diabetes Association recognizes this education service as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education. |
