DIVISION OF NURSING SERVICE PHILOSOPHY

The mission of the Division of Nursing is to promote the art and science of human caring.  We accomplish this by continuing to develop the process of nursing through best practice standards, a code of ethics, and the Oregon State Board of Nursing scope of practice.

Our vision is to provider the people of Umatilla/Morrow counties high quality care that may be achieved through professionalism, continuous performance improvement, continuing education, competency, and improving patient outcomes.

In addition, our culture sees each nurse showing compassion, caring and empathy to all our patients.

VALUES

Safety/Quality:  We are committed to patient, visitor and staff safety.  This is an important aspect of the larger focus Good Shepherd has on the quality of health care we provide, which is our most important value.

Courtesy:  We will be courteous to patients, families, other staff, physicians, visitors and vendors.  We will anticipate people’s needs.  We will maintain a professional appearance and behavior.

Compassion:  We will show patients and families that we empathize with their pain, problems and anxieties.  We will demonstrate that we care by word and deed.

Efficiency:  We will try to get the best result for the least cost in time and money, once we have first satisfied Safety/Quality, Courtesy and Compassion needs of our external and internal customers.

Division of Nursing values are aligned with those of the organization.  The order of the values indicate the individual values priority in the day to day operation.
