events in Hermiston each year. In December 2017,
the Foundation again partnered with Hermiston
Kiwanis Club to raise over $44,500, $20,000 of
which the Foundation received as its share of the
proceeds. These funds were used to enhance
health-related projects within our communities
through grants and medical scholarships given to
qualified organizations and local medical students.

approved organizations, with an additional

departments of the hospital.

The Good Shepherd Community Student
Foundation, created in 2016, continued its good
work in giving instruction to high school and college
age students about the principles of and benefits
of philanthropy. Many community service projects
benefited from their help and support during the
past year.

The bedrock of Foundation accomplishment is its
board members, as they participate in three vital
committees that bring success to the work. The
Fund Development Committee continued its efforts
to advise, develop, and implement new fundraising
programs that will help our local communities. The
Awards Committee worked diligently to identify
qualified applicants for grants and scholarships;
then make appropriate recommendations to the full
board for approval. The Finance Committee met to
oversee investment strategy and determine financial
sustainability of the Foundation. Each committee
was instrumental in increasing the visibility of the
Foundation and producing results that would
continue its growth in the future.
At fiscal year-end, Good Shepherd Community
Health Foundation had assets and equity of
$7,258,653
