It is my privilege as Board

of Trustees Chair to present

the accomplishments and

achievements as outlined in

our Annual Report for the

2018-2019 fiscal year.

Last October, we had our first

Annual Community Meeting.

This was a significant change from our traditional

Annual Corporation Meeting. We felt that the change

would result in broader dissemination of GSHCS

accomplishments and encourage greater community

participation by attending a community meeting. We

have been pleased with the response and look forward

to another Annual Community Meeting this year.

We conducted our Community Health Needs

Assessment (CHNA) this year, where we took an in-

depth look at the “health” of our service area. Perhaps

some of you participated in this initial sampling.

Following the CHNA, we prepared (and our Board

of Trustees ultimately adopted) a Community Health

Improvement Plan (CHIP). Our CHNA and CHIP are

reports required by the federal government and you

can view them on our website at www.gshealth.org.

We consider it both an obligation and privilege to

work to improve our communities’ health.

GSHCS has grown significantly over the years. We

now have over 700 full-time employees and a total

of 40 service lines. I am continually impressed by our

leadership’s resilience and adaptability to the ever-

changing healthcare landscape.

This year, we again received The Oregonian/Oregon

Live Top Workplaces in Oregon award (for the fourth

time and for the last three years in a row). This award

is based upon employee ranking in satisfaction and

engagement.

I have also been pleased with the increase in

patient satisfaction GSHCS has experienced.  This

accomplishment can be attributed, in part, to our

Service Excellence Initiative, which you can read more

about in this report.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to express

my appreciation to the medical staff, employees, and

volunteers, who have chosen to practice patient-

centered medicine at GSHCS, and for making this

another successful year.
