Good Shepherd Community Health
Foundation is a non-profit charitable
institution formed to benefit the
health of the local communities in
which we reside. The Foundation
awards grants, medical scholarships,
and gives financial support to
approved community organizations
to improve the health needs of our
communities
Non-profit foundation work has
been very challenging during this
fiscal year due to the impact of
COVID-19 on our communities,
businesses, and individuals. However,
Good Shepherd Community Health
Foundation has been able to adhere
to its commitment to continue our
grant process for viable health-
related projects and award medical
scholarships to local students.
This has allowed us to successfully
accomplish our philanthropic goals
for fiscal year 2020-2021.
•
Christmas Spirit Awards were
presented to community recipients
by the Foundation in December
2020. Those honored were Doug
Alvarez, Jeanne Jewett, and Kelly
Sanders. These individuals were
nominated by local community
members and chosen by the
Foundation board as recipients who
exemplify the Christmas Spirit – the
spirit of giving throughout the year.
•
The Festival of Trees, a joint
partnership with Hermiston Kiwanis
Club, and one of the most elegant
and anticipated events of each year,
was cancelled in December 2020
due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It
is positioned to go forward in 2021
to carry on a tradition of social
enjoyment and community giving.
Sponsors and attendees have voiced
their support and we anticipate
it being a great success. We are
excited to be a part of this prestigious
event that brings an atmosphere of
entertainment to participants and
helps our communities.
•
Grants are awarded each year to
qualified non-profit organizations
to benefit the health needs of our
local communities. In fiscal year
2020-2021, grants totaling $212,575
were awarded to 20 organizations
approved by the Foundation board.
This included $61,490 given from
the Mary Ellen Paul Trust to six
previously-designated organizations
for health and educational purposes.
These grant and scholarship awards
are a significant contribution to
our communities and the primary
purpose of our charitable giving.
