Community Outreach  

& Education

• Attended 33 community events/health fairs
• Partnered with Medical Teams International to host free 

mobile dental clinic services on Good Shepherd’s campus.

• Offered free flu shots at 5 community events, including 1 

drive-thru event, totaling over 400 individuals vaccinated. 

• Offered 3 Teddy Bear Clinics in the community with over 

250 number of local children participating.

• Hosted 14 American Red Cross blood drives
• Performed 57 car seat checks/installations
• Number of Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance 

(SHIBA) patient encounters, in-person and phone: 1,120

• Certified 2 additional Child Passenger Safety Technicians,

• 1 Community Health Worker became certified as a Peer 

Wellness Specialist to assist patients with Mental and 
Behavioral Health needs.

• 1 Community Health Worker became certified as an  

OHP Assistor to assist patients in enrolling in the Oregon 
Health Plan.

• 1 Community Health Worker became certified as a  

Medical Interpreter. 

Community Health & Education 

Accomplishments:

• Number of classes/events offered: 302
• Potential reach of individuals via classes or events: 26,570
• Received a total of 8 grants for various community health 

projects: denture assistance, car seats, Spanish cooking 
classes, mobility device assistance, substance abuse 
awareness and prevention, local teen health initiatives, 
Family Health & Fitness day, and employee well-being 
improvement project.

• Hosted first Family Health & Fitness Day event post-

COVID on September 24, 2022 with 578 attendees and 
over 40 vendors.

• Hosted first annual You Are Not Alone Substance Use 

Awareness Event and Honor Walk on April 22, 2023 with 
almost 300 attendees.

• Created and adopted Good Shepherd’s 2022-2025 

Community Health Improvement Plan based on 2021 
Community Health Needs Assessment data; 4 priority 
areas identified: Mental Health, Obesity/Nutrition/ 
Physical Activity, Women’s, Men’s, and Infant Health, 
Behavioral Health.

• Presented “Reducing Health Inequities: Identify Needs 

of Specific Patient Populations” at the 2023 Healthcare 
Marketing & Physician Strategies Expo in Austin, TX on 
April 17, 2023.

• Created and shared 14 community class/presentation videos
