The latest technology and state-of-
the-art facilities contribute to top-
tier patient care. At Good Shepherd,
we have built a robotics program
for General Surgery, Orthopedics,
Urology and Women’s Health
services, positioning our health care
system as the regional leader in
advanced technology.
•
DA VINCI ROBOT: The world-
class performance of the da Vinci
robotic surgical system delivers
precision, vision and control,
increasing the scale and efficiency
of minimally invasive surgeries in the
abdominal cavity, including urologic,
gynecologic and general surgery
procedures.
•
MAKO ROBOT: The Mako robot is a
robotic arm-assisted surgical system
our Orthopedics team utilizes to
perform precise joint replacement
procedures, such as knee and hip
replacements.
Other recent technology additions:
•
UROLOGY ROBOT: Our Urology
team are utilizing next-generation
technology with the Aquablation
Robot. Aquablation Therapy is the
first and only image-guided, heat-
free robotic therapy for benign
prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and
GSHCS is the only hospital in
the Pacific Northwest with this
technology. Aquablation Therapy
is a minimally invasive surgical
procedure that uses a robotic arm
to remove excess prostate tissue
and treat BPH, also known as an
enlarged prostate. The procedure
is performed in an operating room
while the patient is under anesthesia
and typically takes about 45 minutes
to an hour to complete.

3DIMENSIONS MAMMOGRAPHY:
Our Diagnostic Imaging
Department recently added the new
3Dimensions mammography system
designed to provide higher quality
3D images for radiologists, faster
exam times, a more comfortable
mammography experience for
patients and ultimately better
accuracy, regardless of age or
breast density.
