podiatrist, and one surgical physiatrist.
Our Annual Report again reflects a positive operating
margin and a stable financial picture as we look
ahead to a strategic planning year filled with ample
opportunities to grow and expand. I want to thank our
supportive Board of Trustees, our Executive Team, our
Medical Staff, Department Heads, and our dedicated
employees and volunteers for making Good Shepherd
Health Care System one of the finest healthcare
organizations in the region and country! And especially
to our patients who choose us for their healthcare—
thank you for trusting us with your care.
medical bills. Free medical transportation is a service
Good Shepherd provides to patients, as well as
free prescription deliveries. Last fiscal year, Good
Shepherd provided 7,421 patient rides and 2,390
free prescription home deliveries. Additionally,
286 free health classes and events were offered
to the community, including the annual Family
Health & Fitness Day event that had over 600
community members attend for free flu shots,
lipid screenings, dental/vision screenings and 50
health-related vendors. Another highlight was
the tremendous community support from Good
Shepherd Community Health Foundation, with
$276,000 awarded in grants to local organizations
and scholarships to 39 high school graduates,
college students and medical professionals seeking
additional medical training.
Good Shepherd Health Care System’s future is
bright and well-positioned to thrive. On behalf of
the Board of Trustees and the communities we
represent, I want to express my gratitude to the
medical staff, employees, and volunteers who
provide compassionate, patient-centered care,
and for their contributions in making this another
successful year.
