At the Good Shepherd Diabetes & Nutrition Center, we are committed to providing quality education and support to all people with diabetes.

Living with diabetes is not easy but learning about your diabetes and how to make healthy choices is the first step towards feeling great and living a long, healthy life.

Whether you’ve been newly diagnosed or have been living with diabetes for many years, we are here to help! Our Diabetes Care & Education Specialists provide personalized education and support to help you live well with diabetes. We offer group classes and individual sessions for patients with all types of diabetes. You may benefit from diabetes education if you:

    • have questions about how to manage your diabetes
    • have had a recent change in your treatment plan or medications
    • have been diagnosed with a new health condition

When you attend diabetes education classes you will learn how to manage your diabetes and receive support for making lifestyle changes. Topics include:

    1. What is diabetes?
    2. Nutrition care for diabetes
    3. Physical activity for health
    4. Monitoring your blood sugar
    5. Understanding your diabetes medications

What to Expect

A referral from your diabetes health care provider is required and insurance is billed for diabetes services. Financial assistance is available to help cover the costs of diabetes education.

    • If your diabetes health care provider has referred you, we will call you to set up an appointment after we have reviewed your referral and obtain insurance authorization as needed. This process typically takes 1-2 weeks.
    • If you are interested in diabetes education but your provider has not referred you, you may call our office and we can help request a referral from your provider.
