Our Staff

We are a team of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists and Diabetes Care and Education Specialists who provide evidence-based nutrition therapy and comprehensive diabetes self-management education for patients of all ages.

What is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist?
Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) are skilled health care professionals who are experts in the field of nutrition science and dietetics. RDNs have the knowledge, skills, and training necessary to take the most up-to-date, evidence-based nutrition science and create an individualized nutrition care plan specific to your health conditions and goals. A nutritionist may be an expert in the field or may be someone with little to no training; however, a registered dietitian nutritionist must:

    • Complete a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nutrition, though many dietitians have also earned a master’s degree in the field
    • Complete 9-12 months of supervised practice
    • Pass a national board examination
    • Complete continuing professional education throughout their career to maintain registration

What is a Certified Diabetes Educator?
A certified diabetes care & education specialist (CDCES) is a skilled health care professional (usually a registered dietitian nutritionist, registered nurse, or pharmacist) who has additional training and experience to be an expert in diabetes prevention, care and management. Diabetes care and education specialists help people affected by diabetes to understand and successfully manage the condition through comprehensive self-management education and ongoing support. In order to become a certified diabetes care & education specialist, a qualified health professional must:

    • Have at least 2 years of experience in their field
    • Obtain at least 1,000 practice hours in diabetes care & education
    • Pass a national certification exam
    • Complete continuing professional education throughout their career to maintain certification
