The Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation is pleased to honor Josh Theros as the 30th Annual Christmas Spirit Award recipient. This award is given to those who exemplify the Spirit of Christmas by giving of themselves to others all throughout the year.
For more than a decade, Josh Theros has been a steady source of kindness, generosity, and goodwill within the Hermiston community; qualities that exemplify the true spirit of Christmas. Since joining the Hermiston School District in 2010, Josh has served as the District Courier while also supporting the Maintenance Department. In these daily roles, he brings a positive presence to administrators, teachers, staff, and community members alike. Josh approaches every task with sincerity and pride, greeting everyone with warmth and helping create a more uplifting and connected school environment.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Josh’s desire to encourage and guide young people shines brightly. He volunteers his time to speak with middle school students about real-life challenges, the importance of making positive choices, and the consequences that can accompany poor decisions. His conversations are honest, compassionate, and deeply relatable, allowing students to connect with him in a meaningful way. Josh’s influence helps build resilience, confidence, and hope, especially for those who need it most.
Josh’s service to the community extends even further through his extraordinary commitment to youth sports. Over the past six years, he has volunteered with the Hermiston Parks & Recreation Department as a soccer coach, in addition to donating countless hours to the Hermiston Youth Basketball Association, Columbia Basin Youth Football, NFL Flag Football, and MLS GO Soccer for the Umatilla Parks & Recreation Department. In each program, Josh brings patience, energy, and enthusiasm, helping young athletes learn not just skills, but also the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and mutual respect.
Josh Theros embodies the essence of the Christmas Spirit: generosity without expectation, kindness that lifts others, and a genuine dedication to improving the lives of those around him. His heartfelt service to youth, his uplifting presence in the school district, and his countless volunteer hours across two communities make him an outstanding and deeply deserving candidate for the Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation Christmas Spirit Award.
