  • Good Shepherd to Hold Annual Community Meeting at EOTEC

    Ryan Donohue is considered a thought leader in healthcare consumerism and community engagement. He currently serves as a Strategic Advisor for NRC Health, the largest surveyor of healthcare consumers in the U.S., and as a Senior Faculty for The Governance Institute, the leading educator of healthcare executives and trustees in the country. Ryan has authored many publications on the topics of branding, consumerism, and community engagement including Brand Equity in Healthcare, The New Payer: What Makes the Healthcare Consumer Tick? and The Curious Case of the Healthcare Consumer. His latest research has culminated in a brand-new book called Patient No Longer which is now available through Health Administration Press, a division of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Ryan resides in Lincoln, Nebraska with his wife, Andrea, and their four children, all under the age of eleven.

    HERMISTON, OR – Good Shepherd Health Care System (GSHCS) will hold its 6th Annual Community Meeting in-person on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Eastern Oregon Trade & Event Center (EOTEC) located at 1705 E Airport Rd in Hermiston. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be provided.

    The public is invited to attend the event to learn about Good Shepherd services and accomplishments. All attendees will receive a wireless phone charger (while supplies last), a copy of the GSHCS Annual Report, and be entered to win door prizes which include two iPad Pros and several $500 gift certificates to local businesses.

    A Health Fair kicks off the event at 4:00 p.m. with 23 booths representing Good Shepherd services such as Internal Medicine, Primary Care, Endocrinology, Women’s Health, Orthopedics, Diagnostic Imaging, Home Medical Equipment and more. Free flu shots (including high doses for those age 65 and over) will be available while supplies last, as well as free health screenings that include blood pressure and BMI checks, and A1C and lipid panels.

    The Annual Community Meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. with an introduction from GSHCS Board of Trustees Sue Daggett. Following Sue is the Annual Report presentation from GSHCS President & CEO Art Mathisen. Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation President Dean Fialka presents next on Foundation accomplishments, including community grants & scholarships. Following Dean is Good Shepherd’s General Surgeon Dr. Ann Rust with her presentation on Advanced Robotic Surgeries. Finally, special guest speaker & author, Ryan Donohue, NRC Health’s Strategic Advisor, will present his keynote, “Brave New World: Exploring Post-COVID Healthcare Consumerism.”

    Door prizes will be drawn at the close of the Annual Community Meeting. Winners must be present to win.
