Good Shepherd Welcomes Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician & Chief of Primary Care Dr. Amy Nguyen
HERMISTON, OR – Good Shepherd Health Care System (GSHCS) is pleased to welcome Amy Nguyen, MD, a Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician with 22 years of experience, as Chief of Primary Care. Dr. Nguyen has cared for patients in Hermiston for the past 15 years and has a strong commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care close to home.

As Chief of Primary Care, Dr. Nguyen will provide physician leadership across Good Shepherd’s primary care services, helping strengthen collaboration and consistency among care teams while advancing shared standards for quality and patient-centered care. She will also continue practicing family medicine, caring for patients of all ages, and treating a broad range of acute and chronic health conditions.
Having grown up in a small, rural community, Dr. Nguyen knew she wanted to return to a rural setting to practice medicine. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, and completed her residency at North Colorado Family Medicine Residency Program in Greeley, Colorado, a rural medicine-focused program where she trained in full-spectrum family medicine.
“I believe people deserve excellent health care close to home. Primary care allows us to build meaningful relationships with patients and help prevent disease,” stated Dr. Nguyen. “I am excited to join Good Shepherd and work alongside our primary care teams to care for the communities we serve.”
Dr. Nguyen’s philosophy of care centers on getting to know each patient individually. Through a foundation of trust, she partners with patients to achieve their health goals using evidence-based education and treatment, lifestyle interventions, and preventive care strategies.
Good Shepherd Primary Care provides comprehensive care for infants, children, adolescents and adults, including preventive wellness visits, acute and chronic condition management, cancer screenings, minor in-office procedures and women’s health services, including prenatal care.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Nguyen enjoys reading, playing tennis, camping, skiing and spending time with her husband and three children.
